Morning all!
As you can see I've recently found the motivation to start getting the guild in order again. The steps I've taken so far include 1) Attempting to contact Ayshe in order to have him fix the forums 2) Making replacement forums when contact was not made 3) Devising an in-game guide to the Felines Lair with the idea that it will be passed around to new, existing, and potential members in order to give them an idea of the workings and goals of the guild 4) Procuring a new official IRC guild channel 5) Reworking rules, ranks, and customs in order to better fit the guild.
However, much more still needs to be done if we want to get the FL back on the PlaneShift map.
First of all I'd like to rework the orders a bit, since they're mostly in chaos. The Warriors have no active leader. If I remember correctly, Shurrim took over the Silent Shadows, and in my mind Haraun leads the Scholars and Loremasters although it may have never been officially discussed.
I would like to sit down with Shurrim and Haraun to get a clear idea of what they have planned for their orders - what the order will contribute to the guild, what the order will teach its members, that sort of thing.
Also, if anyone has any desire to lead the Warriors order, please let me know
That being said, it was discussed a long time ago that members should join orders if they want to advance in the guild, and it is now officially a requirement to advance from Trusted Kin to High Kin, so all existing members above or at the High Kin rank should choose an order if they don't already have one.
I would also like to discuss the possibility of devising more guild rituals. PlaneShift settings classify Enkidukai as still being very wild and tribal, living in packs controlled by the strongest male. Obviously the Lair is very different in that it is composed of members from many different packs, and has for most of its history been led by a female. It seems as though most Enkidukai characters these days lean toward more civilized than tribal, but I sort of like the idea of the FL being a melting pot of all the traditions of the central Enkidukai tribes. I'm not saying we ditch the guildhouse and run bare-chested across the wilderness hunting Tefusang with spears chipped out of stone, but I feel like things like member initiation, promotion, in-game meetings, etc, should have some sort of ceremony involved.
For example, I have an excess of silver falchions lying around due to a very lucky happenstance that occurred several years ago. I've always toyed with the idea of maybe presenting them to members who achieve the "Claw" rank during some sort of promotion ceremony as a way of signifying their full member status. From what I gather, silver falchions aren't all that common anymore, so I rather enjoy the thought of our guild being defined by them
We also need to discuss recruitment, but I'll save that for another thread. I know this one is lengthy as it is.
Anyway... What are everyone's thoughts? Any ideas not mentioned that you would like to see implemented?
